Co-Owner & CEO Oui’d Confections

Matthew was born and raised in Cupertino, California where he mostly lived with his aunt who got him involved in cooking and gardening from a young age. Matthew got his start in the culinary industry in Chicago after studying the culinary arts at Kendall College. After cooking professionally for 12 years in Chicago at Michelin star restaurants under highly regarded chefs such as Grant Achatz, Matthew moved back to California, this time to Los Angeles in 2014, running kitchens for Nancy Silverton and Dave Beran.

Matt’s love of food and plants started at a young age living in California. After moving to Chicago, Matt fell into the world of professional cooking at a pivotal time in the Chicago food scene. After nearly a decade working in fine dining Michelin star restaurants under highly acclaimed chefs (one of them also being Grant Achatz), In early 2020, just after the pandemic hit, Matthew called Matt and asked if he would move out to California to start the chef driven consulting, clothing company they had always talked about since their days cooking together in Chicago. Now you can find Matt in the kitchen making pâte de fruit and dreaming up more unique and playful flavor combinations. 

Daniel S.

Head Chocolatier Oui’d Confections

Daniel was born and raised in Sunnyvale, CA where he and his sister would spend their summers watching the Food Network and baking together. After exploring the pastry world and cooking in California, Daniel decided to move in 2013 and immerse himself in Chicago’s fine dining scene where he worked under notable Michelin star chef, Grant Achatz. Between 2014 and 2017, Daniel honed his pastry skills with the Eleven Madison Park group in New York and was head chocolatier at the highly regarded Feve Chocolates in San Francisco. In 2017, Daniel moved to Los Angeles where he reconnected with Matthew and was the pastry chef at both Dave Beran’s restaurants Dialogue and Pasjoli, until the launch of Oui’d.

Daniel is the mastermind and skill behind all of Oui’d Confections' beautifully crafted chocolate bonbons. You can find him in the kitchen covered in cocoa butter and chocolate ensuring each bonbon is perfectly shelled, filled, and capped.
